Terms & Conditions

The rules for using the platform — accounts, courses, hackathon participation, prizes and who owns what you build.

Last updated · 05 August 2026

01Agreement to these terms

By creating an account, enrolling in a course or registering for a hackathon on BFM Academy, you agree to these terms. If you are using the platform on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the platform.

02Your account

You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account, and the information you give us must be accurate and kept up to date.

One person, one account. Keep your credentials to yourself — you are responsible for everything done under your account, and you should tell us immediately if you suspect it has been compromised.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, submit plagiarised work, or abuse other participants.

03Courses and content

Course access is granted to you personally and is non-transferable. Free courses may become paid, and paid courses may change price, but anything you have already enrolled in stays accessible to you.

Course materials — video, text, code samples and exercises — belong to BFM Academy or the instructors who made them. You may use them to learn and to build your own projects. You may not resell, republish or redistribute them.

Certificates confirm completion of a course. They are not an accredited qualification and we make no claim that they are.

04Hackathon participation

Each hackathon publishes its own rules covering eligibility, team size, themes and submission requirements. Those rules sit alongside these terms, and where they conflict, the event rules win for that event.

Work must be created during the hackathon window. Pre-existing libraries, boilerplate and open-source dependencies are fine; a project that existed before kickoff is not. Judges review commit history.

Submissions must be your own work, must not infringe anyone else’s rights, and must not contain malicious code. We may disqualify any entry that breaks these conditions, at any stage, including after prizes are announced.

Judging decisions are final. We publish criteria in advance and score against them, but we do not enter into correspondence about individual scores.

05Prizes

Prize amounts and formats are stated on each hackathon page. Unless we say otherwise, prizes are paid in USDC to a wallet address you supply, within seven days of the results being announced.

Team prizes are split evenly across members unless the team tells us a different split before payout. You are responsible for any tax due in your jurisdiction.

We may require identity verification before paying a prize, and we cannot pay prizes to participants in countries where doing so would breach sanctions or applicable law.

06Intellectual property

You keep full ownership of everything you build. Registering for a hackathon does not transfer any rights in your project to us or to a sponsor.

By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display your project name, description, screenshots and demo video in event recaps, on the site and on social media.

The BFM Academy name, logo and site design are ours. Please do not use them to imply endorsement without written permission.

07Acceptable use

Treat other participants, mentors and staff with respect. Harassment, hate speech, doxxing and targeted abuse get you removed from the platform and every associated event.

Do not scrape the site, attempt to bypass authentication, probe our infrastructure for vulnerabilities without permission, or use the platform to distribute malware or run phishing campaigns.

If you find a security issue, report it to support@bfmacademy.in rather than exploiting it. We will not pursue action against good-faith research reported responsibly.

08Payments and refunds

Paid courses are charged upfront in the currency shown at checkout. Prices include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

You can request a full refund within 7 days of purchase provided you have completed less than 25% of the course. After that, purchases are final.

Refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically take 5–10 working days to appear.

09Third-party services

The platform links to and integrates with third-party services — wallets, chains, sponsors, cloud providers and community channels. We do not control them and are not responsible for their availability, content or terms.

Interacting with blockchains carries risk, including irreversible loss of funds from your own mistakes or from bugs in third-party contracts. You take that risk on yourself.

10Availability and changes

We aim to keep the platform available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may run maintenance with or without notice.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the updated terms.

11Liability

The platform is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months or ₹10,000.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bengaluru have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Before starting proceedings, please contact us at support@bfmacademy.in — most disputes are resolved faster over email than in court.
